Tips for submissions

  • Submissions may present completed research or work in progress, but they should clearly explain what is new, interesting or valuable about the work being presented.

  • Try to make the main contribution of your paper clear early in the abstract rather than spending most of the submission explaining background or context.

  • Your submission should clearly communicate the research question or issue being explored, the approach or methodology used, and the findings, outcomes or ideas that will be discussed.

  • Write your abstract so that it can be understood by attendees and reviewers from different areas of games research and development, rather than assuming specialist knowledge.

  • Where relevant, engage with existing research, projects or industry work to show how your submission connects to the wider field.

  • If the work has previously been published or presented, explain what is different, updated or expanded in the version being submitted to the Experimental Games Conference.

  • Most importantly, give reviewers a clear understanding of what attendees will learn, discuss or take away from your presentation.
